A complete drawing package is the single biggest factor in how quickly a metal stamping quote can be reviewed. This article outlines what to include when submitting a request.

File formats

Submit drawings as PDF, DWG, DXF or STEP files. JPG or PNG images are accepted for reference photos but should not be the only file for a dimensioned part — vector or CAD formats allow accurate review of tolerances and geometry. Each file should be uploaded individually; compressed archives (ZIP) are not accepted.

Information to include on or alongside the drawing

  • Overall dimensions and material thickness
  • Material type and, if applicable, temper or hardness requirement
  • Critical tolerances, called out explicitly rather than implied by a general tolerance block
  • Surface finish or plating requirement, if any
  • Target quantity and whether the requirement is a one-time order or recurring production
  • Application context (e.g. the industry or assembly the part is used in)

Why this speeds up the quote

When material, tolerance and volume information is available up front, engineering can assess stamping feasibility, tooling requirements and process route in a single review pass. Incomplete submissions usually require a follow-up request for missing data, which extends the time before a quote can be issued.

Submitting your request

Drawings and requirement details can be submitted through the request quote form, which is organized into contact, requirement and file upload steps.
